‘Beit al-Hikma’ Named Official Publisher of Books for the 47th Cairo International Film Festival

The Cairo International Film Festival, chaired by the artist Hussein Fahmy, has signed a sponsorship agreement with the House of Wisdom Cultural Group, chaired by Dr Ahmed Al-Said, under which the group will act as the official publisher of books for the 47th edition, scheduled to take place from 11 to 20 November 2026, to support film culture and document the experiences of creative artists.

Fahmy said: “Our role goes beyond screening films and honouring their makers; it extends to fostering film culture and passing on knowledge to new generations,” highlighting the importance of this partnership in a year in which the festival celebrates its fiftieth anniversary. For his part, Al-Sa’id emphasised that “the festival’s books preserve its memory; what is shown on screen for only a few days finds a longer life in print.”

The publications comprise six books:
- “Asser Yassin… The Brave Knight” by critic Safaa Al-Leithi
- *Medhat El-Adl: The Cinema of a Confused Generation* by Amjad Jamal
- *The Idea of the Film and the Eye of Cinema* by Saeed Shimi
- “The Cinema of Matteo Garrone: The Story of the Stranger” by Hassan Salama
- “Films of the Golden Pyramid (1976–2025): A Close Look” by Khaled Abdel Aziz
- “A Night Out: Readings in Genre Films” by Karim Al-Daleel

The group is also taking part in the ‘Book to Screen’ forum, which the festival is launching for the first time as part of the ‘Cairo Film Industry Days’, with the aim of connecting publishers with film and drama makers, and exploring adaptation, intellectual property rights and the development of joint projects.
