Ahmed Adel: “Ahmed Saad Makes a Bold Bet on the Authenticity of Arab Music in a Project That Revives the Magic of a Golden Era”

Music arranger Ahmed Adel contributes to two tracks from Ahmed Saad’s new album, saying: “We hope to create an experience that makes a meaningful contribution to the Arab music repertoire.”

Music arranger Ahmed Adel has expressed his pride and excitement at contributing to Ahmed Saad’s new album—a distinctive musical project that celebrates the authenticity of Arab music and revives the spirit of its golden era through a fresh artistic vision that speaks to contemporary audiences.

Adel contributes arrangements to two of the album’s five tracks. The first, “Waadni,” is composed by Madian, written by Aleem and arranged by Ahmed Adel. The second, “Meen,” is composed by Walid Saad, written by Khaled Tag El Din and arranged by Ahmed Adel, with mixing and mastering by sound engineer Hany Mahrous.

Both tracks place Arab musical identity at the heart of their sound, drawing on authentic instruments such as the qanun, ney, oud and violin, alongside rich string sections. These elements give the arrangements greater musical depth while bringing renewed attention to the intricate details that defined Arabic music during some of its most celebrated eras.

According to Adel, one of the project’s most distinctive qualities is Ahmed Saad’s courage in pursuing a different artistic direction at a time when electronic music and modern production styles dominate much of the contemporary music scene. He described Saad’s decision to return to the foundations of Arab music in this way as a bold and thoughtful artistic choice worthy of recognition.

Working on the two songs also led Adel to revisit and closely study the spirit of musical arrangements from the 1960s. He explored the era’s compositional structures, the dialogue between instruments and the subtle details that gave Arabic music its unmistakable richness and character.

Adel explained that the intention was never simply to recreate the past, but to draw inspiration from its beauty and reintroduce it through a musical vision that preserves its authenticity while giving it a renewed presence for today’s listeners.

“I am incredibly happy and proud of this experience,” Ahmed Adel said. “It goes far beyond contributing to an album. It is a distinctive artistic journey that encouraged us to reflect on the value of Arab music, the beauty of its details and the instruments that helped shape our musical identity. I believe Ahmed Saad’s courage in presenting a project like this at this moment is one of the key elements that makes the experience so special.”

He continued: “I hope this project becomes a meaningful addition to the Arab music repertoire and that we have created an experience that respects our musical heritage while opening a new space for it to connect with younger generations. This is a project I am deeply proud of, and I am very happy to have been part of it—particularly because it proves that authentic Arab music still has so much more to offer.”
